Regional track meets get underway

Muldrow boys 3rd at Inola meet

Regional track and field meets will be held Saturday for local schools Sallisaw, Muldrow, Roland, Vian, Central, Gore, Gans and Webbers Falls.

Sallisaw (Class 4A) was assigned to the Madill Regional while Muldrow (4A) and Roland (3A) will travel to McAlester for their regionals.

Vian, Central and Gore will go to Okemah for their 2A regional and Gans and Webbers Falls will compete in the Class A regional at Okemah.

All of the regionals begin at 9:30 a.m. Regional winners (in each class) of first, second and third places qualify for the state championships, which will be held May 5-6 at Ardmore High School (classes 4A and 3A) and Western Heights (classes 2A and A) in Oklahoma City. The next four best performances from fourth through seventh-place finishes (times, heights and distances) also qualify for the state meets.

Six medals in each event will be given at regional meets.

Inola High School Invitational Track Meet

Muldrow and Roland attended the Inola High School Invitational Track Meet on Friday in Rogers County, and the Bulldogs placed third in the boys’ division.

Earning medals (top 4) for Muldrow and Roland at the meet were Muldrow’s Trenden Collins (first in the 200m dash, 400m dash and the high jump and third in the long jump, Zackery Parker (first in the 300m hurdles and second in the long jump and the 110m hurdles, Carmen Fields (second in the discus), Katelynn Moore (third in the 3200m run) and Roland’s 4x200m boys’ relay team (fourth: Lateevis Jones, Dakota Price, Dalton Crossno and Aden Sutton).

The Bulldogs totaled 65 points at the meet, which was won by Wagoner (116), and Roland (10) was 16th.

The Lady Bulldogs (18 points) were 12th and Stilwell (110) finished first in the girls’ division.
