Roland girls win tournament opener Tuesday
HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
The Roland High School girls’ basketball team won its Armstrong Bank Sequoyah County Area Classic opener Tuesday night at Muldrow.
Roland girls 64, Gore 19 The Class 3A No. 16 Lady Rangers led 21-4 after the first eight minutes of Tuesday’s ABSCAC opener inside Muldrow’s Roger Sharp Activity Center and Roland went on to down the Class A Lady Pirates and advance to the semifinals.
Roland’s Haven Freeman topped all scorers with 28 points and also registering points for the Lady Rangers were Addison Cole (16), Madison Jetton (9), Kynlei Earnhart (6), Julianna Trujillo (3) and Riscay Campbell (2).
Scoring for the Lady Pirates were Lindsey Pierce (9 points), Kennedy Williams (3), Aspyn Cearley, Kima Wells and Oaklei Thornton (2 each) and Andi Summerlin (1).
On Wednesday at Vian the Lady Pirates lost 47-41 to Vian in a consolation semifinal contest at Vian and Thursday the Lady Rangers played Stigler at Muldrow in a semifinal game.
