Girls’ wrestling regional at Sallisaw begins Monday

Boys’ regionals start Friday at other sites

Sallisaw High School’s Paul Post Fieldhouse will be the site for one of the two girls’ wrestling regional tournaments, which will be held Monday and Tuesday.

Sallisaw and Vian will compete in the Sallisaw regional.

Weigh-ins are scheduled for 9 a.m. each day of the tournament. On Monday the first session is slated to start at 11 a.m. and the second session will get underway at 5 p.m. On Tuesday the sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Sixty-five schools were assigned to the Sallisaw regional tournament. Mustang High School will host the other regional tournament. The top 5 finishers in each weight classification from each of the regional tournaments will qualify for the state tournament, which will be held Feb. 24-25 in Oklahoma City.

Boys’ Regionals

The boys’ regional wrestling tournaments for Sallisaw, Vian and Gore’s teams will be held Friday and Saturday.

Class 4A Sallisaw was assigned to the East Regional at Catoosa, 3A Vian will travel to Perry for the West Regional and 3A Gore was placed in the East Regional, which will be held at Cleveland.

Championship:–1st round and quarterfinals Consolation–1st round

Session 2: Monday and Friday (5 p.m.)

Championship¬–Semifinals Consolation–2nd round Session 3: Tuesday and Saturday (11 a.m.)

Consolation–quarterfinals, semifinals Session 4: Tuesday and Saturday (4 p.m.)

Championship finals, consolation finals and 5th-place matches wrestled simultaneously on three mats.
