Lady Diamonds win McAlester meet, Bulldogs fifth

McALESTER — Sallisaw’s Lady Diamonds finished first Thursday in the Clark Bass Track and Field Invitational at Hook Eales Stadium, and Muldrow’s Bulldogs placed fifth.

The Muldrow girls were seventh (40 points) at the meet, and the Sallisaw boys were ninth (22).

The Lady Diamonds totaled 116 points, and Broken Bow was second with 85 points. The Bulldogs registered 56 points, and Rejoice Christian (128 points) was the boys’ champion. Medaling for the Lady Diamonds were Kayli Macon (first in the 200m dash), Abby Kate Qualls (first in the 100m dash), Sydney Weedon (third in the 100 and 300m hurdles), Kylee Holt (third in the 800m run), Hannah Palmer (third in the long jump), the 4x800m relay team (first: Kylee Holt, Jazmyne Wright, Molly Carver, Jessica Mattingly), the 4x100m relay team (second: Ellie Martin, Qualls, Macon, Kelsey Merrill), the 4x200m relay team (second: Macon, Qualls, Mattingly, Merrill) and 4x400m relay team (third: Holt, Palmer, Weedon, Macon). The Muldrow boys receiving medals were Trenden Collins (first in the 400m dash, second in the high jump, third in the 200m dash) and Zackery Parker (second in the long jump and the 100m hurdles, third in the high jump).

Earning medals for the Lady Bulldogs were Carmen Fields (first in the discus), Jensi Fields (second in the discus), Katelynn Moore (third in the 3200m run) and the 4x800m relay team (third: Mason Anstine, Moore, Genna Stephenson, Isabelle Rogers).

Medaling for the Black Diamonds were Sim Kilpatrick (first in the 100m dash) and Cooper Cox (third in the 400m dash).

The meet was originally scheduled for Friday, but the threat of inclement moved it up a day.
