Vian girls 5th at Henryetta meet

Wolverines place 9th

Vian’s high school girls’ track and field team finished fifth Monday at Henryetta’s John (J.P.) Philippe Invitational, while the Wolverine boys placed ninth.

Medaling (top 5 in individual events) and earning team points (1st through 6th places) for the Lady Wolverines were Maci Smith (1st in high jump), Rebel Simon (2nd in 300m hurdles and 4th in 100m hurdles), Annie Neal (2nd in long jump), Kalli Kennedy (3rd in 100m hurdles), Kala Gibbins (4th in 300m hurdles and 6th in 100m hurdles), Kiah Richardson (4th in discus) and Aubrey Gant (4th in high jump).

The Lady Wolverines registered 48 points, and Henryetta (98) was the girls’ champion.

In the boys’ division, Desean Mays won the 100 and 200m dashes, and Marshal Ross and Nate Cheater were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the shot put.

The Wolverines totaled 24 points at the meet, which was won by Henryetta (101).

Monday’s meet was originally scheduled for March 24.
