Rain scrambles baseball, slowpitch playoffs

By Lea Lessley Sports Writer

Heavy rain in the area this week has scrambled the playoff schedules for the county baseball teams and Muldrow’s slowpitch team.

Sallisaw baseball

The first two contests of the Black Diamonds’ Class 4A bi-district tournament against Jay at Sallisaw are scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The if-necessary game of the double-elimination tournament would be played Saturday at a time to be announced.

Vian baseball

The Wolverines are tentatively scheduled to host Nowata in the first two games of their 2A district tournament at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Friday. The if-necessary contest of the double-elimination tournament would be played Saturday at a time to be announced.

Central baseball

The host Tigers, who originally planned to start their 2A district tournament against Canadian on Tuesday, are now scheduled to play their first two games at noon and 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The if-necessary game of the double-elimination tournament would be played Saturday at a time to be announced.

Gore baseball

The Pirates were scheduled to begin their Class A regional tournament against Shattuck (3:30 p.m.) at Laverne on Thursday. Gore’s second contest was slated for 6 or 8:30 p.m. and its other games in the double-elimination tournament would be played Friday with the if-necessary contest slated for Saturday.

Muldrow slowpitch

The Lady Bulldogs’ Class 5A regional tournament, originally scheduled for Thursday at North Rock Creek near Shawnee, was moved to the Firelake Ball Fields in Shawnee.

Muldrow played Perkins-Tryon at 2:15 p.m. Thursday in its regional opener and its second game was slated for 3:30 or 4:45 p.m. Two of the four regional-tournament teams qualify for next week’s state tournament.

Muldrow baseball

The first two games of the Bulldogs’ 4A bi-district tournament against Oologah-Talala were played Thursday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in Pryor.

The if-necessary game of the doubleelimination tournament was slated for Friday at a time to be announced.

Roland baseball

The Rangers’ opening two games of their 3A bi-district tournament at Atoka were played Thursday at 3:30 and 6 p.m.

The if-necessary contest of the double-elimination tournament was scheduled for Friday at a time to be announced.
