Gore wrestlers place at Coweta Tournament
COWETA — Five Gore wrestlers placed at last weekend’s Coweta Tournament.
In the high school division, 215-pounder Antonio Parker and heavyweight Kaydin McCartney were runners-up, while 157-pounder Devon Mannon and 175-pounder Bladin McCartney were fourth.
“We showed up ready to wrestle, and did a really good job controlling our matches for the most part,” Gore coach Matt Hawkins said. “Fundamentally, we showed a lot of improvement, and that helped put us in position to bring home a few medals. I’m really proud of the hard work these guys have been putting in.”
Only one Pirate medaled in the junior-high portion of the tournament as Jayden Gates placed third.
The Pirates will take the Christmas break off and return to action in the Hilldale Tournament, which will take place Jan. 5-6 in Muskogee.
