Wolverines pick up individual wins in Senior Night dual

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Several Vian high school and junior high wrestlers got wins on the mat during Thursday night’s Senior Night dual against Sequoyah-Tahlequah at B.J. Traw Gymnasium. The matches that took place against Stilwell were exhibitions.

In the high school boys dual, 190-pounder Lane Jameson and 215-pounder Garritt Hunt got pinfall wins. In the high school girls’ dual, 115-pounder Aubrey Gant, 125-pounder Carissa Prock and 130-pouder Carmen Rautenburg all won by forfeit.

On the JH side of Senior Night’s action, Kalvin Andrade (98 pounds), Charles Lucas (92) and Gavin Cornelius (80) won matches by pin for the Wolverines, while Maddi Turman (126) got a major decision in the lone match contested for the Lady Wolverines. The Vian wrestlers will be idle until after the Christmas break when they will participate in the Inola Tournament on Jan. 5-6.
