Richardson touts principles, values in city council bid
There aren’t many 73-year-old women who run for office for the first time. But not many women are Jeannie Richardson, who is a candidate for a seat on the Sallisaw Board of City Commissioners to represent Ward 4. “When my son asked me to run for this office in early December, my mind went back to the first political campaign that I can remember, 1960, and I was 10 years old. John F. Kennedy was running against Richard Nixon, and I remember JFK saying over and over and over, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country’,” Richardson says.
