Lady Diamonds powerlifting duo place at state

DURANT — Both Sallisaw Lady Diamonds powerlifters, Macie Gremillion in the high school division and Jimma Carlin the junior high division, each placed at Tuesday’s Class 4A State Meet as both ladies improved upon their regional meet performances the week before.

After placing 14th with a total of 730 pounds lifted at the regional meet, Gremillion finished 13th at state with a total of 750 pounds lifted.

Carlin, who placed 13th at last week’s regional meet with a total of 380 pounds lifted, finished 12th at state with a total of 410 pounds lifted.

“Both girls improved their total weight from regionals to state,” Sallisaw powerlifting coach Aaron Compton said.

The regional tournaments for boys powerlifters will be this week in Hartshorne. The JH regional meet was slated for Wednesday, and the high school regional meet was slated for Thursday.
