Rangers beat Okmulgee, Pocola, but lose district game to Cascia Hall

The Roland Rangers baseball team ended Spring Break Week with a pair of wins, beating Okmulgee 10-2 Thursday at home and getting an 11-5 road win over Pocola on Friday afternoon. However, they lost their district game 13-12 to Tulsa Cascia Hall on Monday evening in Tulsa.

In the win over Okmulgee, the Rangers took a 1-0 lead on a passed ball, allowing Alex Brant to score, for a 1-0 lead after an inning.

After the Bulldogs tied the game at 1-all in the second inning, the Rangers broke the tie with a four-run third inning to up Roland’s advantage to 8-1 after four innings. A tworun fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Paden Pitts was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Ashton Peters was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in, Colton Peters was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and Carson Wiggins hit an RBI double and scored twice for Roland.

Pitts (2-0) got the win, getting a complete five-inning game victory with six strikeouts and throwing a three-hitter.

In Friday’s victory over Pocola, a five-run first inning and a four-run second inning put Roland ahead 9-0.

For the game, Wiggins hit his second and third home runs of the season with four RBIs.

Alex Brant (1-2) got his first win of the season, going the first six innings with nine strikeouts. Colton Peters pitched the seventh inning with a strikeout.

In Monday night’s district road loss to Cascia Hall, the Commandos walked off the game with a three-run seventh inning after the Rangers (4-5 overall, 1-4 in district play) scored three runs in the top of the inning to take a 12-10 lead.

In defeat, Brant was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Colton Peters was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Roland.

Colton Peters (0-1) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 1.2 innings with two strikeouts, but allowing the final four Cascia Hall runs, three of them earned, to score. Ashton Peters got the start and went the first five innings with five Ks.

Okay 3, Webbers Falls 2 Monday at Okay, the Mustangs scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Warriors (4-4) cut their deficit to 3-2 with a run in the fifth inning but got no closer.

In defeat, Braydan Robinson doubled and scored once and Maddux Shelby doubled for Webbers Falls.

Stryker Chappell (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going five innings with six strikeouts. Brutus Robinson pitched a scoreless sixth inning, getting all three outs by strikeouts.

Monday Games Rained Out Several high school baseball games were rained out Monday.

Sallisaw’s home game against Sequoyah-Claremore was rained out, and the two teams were slated to play a doubleheader Tuesday at the home of the Eagles.

Other games rained out Monday were Warner at Vian, McCurtain at Gans and Muldrow at Stigler. The Bulldogs were slated to make up Monday’s game and play Tuesday’s regularly-scheduled game on Tuesday at Connors State College in Warner.
