Sequoyah Football Club looks for bigger, better things

By DAREN FOWLER SEQUOYAH FOOTBALL CLUB

Sequoyah Football Club is a local nonprofit soccer club that was formed in October 2023. The original goal was to form a competitive team to play in leagues throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma and develop individual and team skills at a higher level of play.

The club has doubled in the last season and is currently in the process of joining the Oklahoma Soccer Association and plan to expand to up to five teams in the fall including a boys age 19-and-younger boys team, a girls age 19-and-younger team, a boys age 14-and-younger team, a girls age 14-and-younger team and an age 12-and-younger coed team.

Registration for the fall 2024 season, which will begin in October, will open in June and close in mid August.

Sequoyah Football Club joined the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce in April in search of ways to get the club more involved in giving back to our community.

At Sequoyah FC, we believe that soccer is more than just a game. We believe that it teaches valuable life skills, such as teamwork, leadership and perseverance.

The club hopes to develop a stronger soccer community throughout Sequoyah County. We believe that team sports such as soccer brings people together and helps build a strong, healthy community.

The club always is looking for additional sponsors and donations and 100 percent of funding goes to training or field equipment for our players.

The club’s final home game for this season will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 601 South Locust Street against Charleston, Ark. The club would love to see our community come out and support our players.
